The Stonebow

The Stonebow on Lincoln High Street, it used to be one of the city gates, but Lincoln is so much bigger now of course. In the passageway through the Stonebow is a shop each side, a sweet shop and a jewellers. Both sides are shown.

Stonebow history

The weather was a bit better today, no rain to speak of at least! Tomorrow is the first day of spring so it ought to be getting better.

  • The sweet shop used to be a lovely tobacconist's shop. When I was a child it always seemed to be some sort of adult place that I'd never be old enough to go into. OF course, I grew up, became a smoker, and went in there plenty of times. The smell of pipe tobacco lives with me to this day.
